The People s Emergency Briefing

I am writing to invite you to a local screening of the People’s Emergency Briefing film on the threats to British life from ongoing damage to nature and to our climate. We'll be showing the 45-minute film, followed by a facilitated conversation to create hope and motivation to bring about change.

Location: St Michael’s Primary School, The Grove, Flixton

Date: Friday November 20 2026

Time: 6.30 – 8.30pm

The new film, featuring leading climate and nature scientists, a former general and Jennifer Saunders, outlines the threats to health, the economy, food and national security caused by climate and nature breakdown and presents evidence that risks can still be reduced.

As Christians, we’re called to love our neighbours, act justly, and care for God’s creation.

The effects of the climate crisis are hitting communities living in poverty first and hardest, communities who have done the least to cause the crisis.

It is a justice issue, and the church has a vital role to play.

The National Emergency Briefing initiative is explicitly non-partisan and has support from a wide range of organisations including a coalition of the UK’s church denominations, National Trust, Exeter University, the Royal Meteorological Society, WWF, National Education Union, UK charities and many more.

The screening in Flixton is being organised by St Michael’s Church Eco Group. The film and discussion will be based on the information from UK experts and an open discussion between the residents attending.

Following the 45-minute film, we will have a solution-focused workshop, which will be facilitated by a member of our church community and Revd. Grace Thomas, Canon Missioner at Manchester Cathedral and Diocesan Environmental Officer.

We would greatly value your attendance and the invitation is open to all your congregation.

Please let us know if you are able to join us.

With best wishes,

Sue Middleton for St Michael’s Eco Group
