St. Mary’s has separate War Memorials for the two World Wars

First World War (1914 - 1918) War Memorial

Along with most parishes in this country, St. Mary’s suffered significant losses during the 1914 - 1918 great war.
The names of twenty one men from St. Mary’s who died are inscribed on our war memorial, which is in the form of a celtic cross and is located in the main church garden.

This war memorial was cleaned and renovated in 2009, in time for the 90th anniversary of armistice day on 11th november 2008.

Second World War (1939 - 1945) War Memorial

The sacrifice of the men from St. Mary’s parish who died in the second world war was commemorated by the building of the choir vestry on the north side of the church

The names of the twenty two men from St. Mary’s parish who were killed are commemorated on a wooden plaque inside the choir vestry.

The following inscriptions appear on this war memorial.
